NASA dumbfounded by heat

Well, I've heard it all now. Listening to NPR here at work this morning they reported "NASA is trying to figure out why the temperature rose 30-40 degree's in the left wheel well.

Now I believe if NASA hires me I can be of great help with this. First the shuttle endures mind blowing heat in excess of 3000 degrees during it's decent through the atmosphere.
So a rise in temperature is expected.

Secondly they said that NASA was running experiments to see if falling foam could damage the tiles. That image popped into my head. I saw a few guys in lab coats standing in front of one of the other space shuttles throwing a nerf football against it and saying... "you call that a spiral?".

Just my 2 cents.

*Note* This is in no way to belittle the sacrifice the courageous men and women of the Columbia. Only to make fun of the NPR reporting and NASA's silliness.
