What happened to Portugal??

Posted by: Larry at March 19, 2003 07:20 PM

30 countries out of how many?

Posted by: Les at March 19, 2003 07:40 PM

Thanks Les,

Excuse #1: Still not enough Countries.

Posted by: cwilli at March 19, 2003 07:45 PM

a·lone ( P ) Pronunciation Key (-ln)
adj.
Being apart from others; solitary.
Being without anyone or anything else; only.

again, we are NOT alone.

Posted by: cwilli at March 19, 2003 07:47 PM

Well, not necessarily not enough Cwilli. But one cannot just brush off the millions of people, internationally nonetheless, that are in opposition to military intervention.

It is also nice to see who are "allies" are. Most of these countries are well, it is quite obvious who their are. It is rather interesting.Oh, we were never alone, perhaps in bad company but never alone.

Posted by: Les at March 19, 2003 07:59 PM

I did not use the excuse not "enough" countries my dear man of the military cloth, you are one of themn aren't you?

I am just curious as to which other countries are in opposition. But I will look that up right now.

Posted by: Les at March 19, 2003 08:01 PM

But les, you yourself has said in other posts that we are acting alone. The ONLY point of this post is to prove otherwise.

and thanks again,

Excuse #2: The other Countries are 'bad company'

Posted by: cwilli at March 19, 2003 08:03 PM

Whats the point of listing everyone who is opposed. I will save you the research.

Everyone not listed is in opposition. (Save the 15 who are unnamed at this point)

Posted by: cwilli at March 19, 2003 08:07 PM

Ohh, what is excuse number three?Since you know your opposition so well.

Posted by: Les at March 19, 2003 08:18 PM

I don't consider you my opposition and as the Tao of Pooh reads: He who anticipates his enemy makes a great mistake. Just be and react naturally (not an exact quote and I don't consider you an enemy either, but you get the point)

Posted by: cwilli at March 19, 2003 08:23 PM

I apologize for my misquote.

The great mistake is to anticipate the outcome of the engagement;
You ought not to be thinking of whether it ends in victory or in defeat.
Let nature take its course, and your tools will strike at the right moment.

Bruce Lee

Posted by: cwilli at March 19, 2003 08:43 PM

I am surprised you read Tao.
Do you listen to country?

Posted by: Les at March 19, 2003 09:13 PM

Little bit o'culture of us all tonight.
I present to you e.e.cummings, one of the great American modern poets:

""next to of course god america i
love you land of the pigrims' and so forth oh
say can you see by the dawn's early my
country 'tis of centuries come and go
and are no more what of it we should worry
in every language even deafanddumb
thy sons acclaim your glorious name by gorry
by jingo by gee by gosh by gum
why talk of beauty what could be more beaut-
iful than these herioc happy dead
who rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter
they did not stop to think they died instead
then shall the voice of liberty be mute?"

He spoke. And drank rapidly a glass of water "

Posted by: Les at March 19, 2003 09:39 PM

I like country fine, if you are talking about music. I prefer classic rock though. Dont be suprised that I read the Tao. I consider myself a Taoist but I believe in God.

No excuses sorry. The US have decided to act alone. Some countries agree, some just follow out of fear or interest. within this list only australia and great Britain have sent troops. Many more had in the first gulf war.
Mexico and Canada, though so close from you and traditionaly allies oppose this war. So does France (who had sent troops in the 1st) so does china, India, Pakistan (who cares about that one !), africa but one or 2 countries, Russia...
That's between 2/3 and 3/4 of world population.
And if you want to know there are around 250 countries in the world.

But now who cares, action is started, hope you do it fast and clean, and have great diplomatic skills for the post war peace.
Replace bush. He's a shame.

Posted by: definitelyfrench at March 20, 2003 01:36 AM

Thanks definitelyfrench,

Excuse #3: The other Countries are following out of fear or intererst.

BTW you definitelyfrench have been put on permanant STFU from here on out....

Posted by: cwilli at March 20, 2003 10:13 AM

I wouldn't call Mexico a traditional ally.

Chris, you missed excuse #4:
Most of the world's population is against this. Which, we don't know if that's true or not, and frankly, doesn't matter.

Posted by: skywalker at March 20, 2003 10:35 AM

yeah, who cares waht people think!
they will all end up as collateral damage anywhew.

Posted by: Les at March 20, 2003 01:26 PM

That's a pretty idiotic comment.

Look collateral damage is a nice friendly term for civilian deaths. Obviously people who aren't anywhere near Iraq won't have civilian deaths.

I don't care what other country's think, it isn't their security at risk it is ours, and it isn't their freedom that is lacking, it is the Iraqi's.

We've already proven Hussein a liar: he used weapons already that he claimed not to have.

Posted by: skywalker at March 20, 2003 01:39 PM

Yeah...but All the civillians in IRAQ aren't gone?
My comment is idiotic? Maybe humanitarian but we know you Americans do not fiddle with ethics as thy contradict your militaristic mantra.

And yes, we should not care what other countries think. This is PLANET AMERICA. The Iraqis freedom? That is why Iraqis hate the US?

If you do not open your mind and eyes and listen to others, how do expect to learn anything?
This war is fought on the premise that YOU are right and they are wrong. That our way of living is better...

I hope many Americans die. I wish the blood of Iraq red with american blood because this country needs a lesson. It has intervened in the lives of too many others...it has a past that is despicable and I am ashamed to be from this country. A country that is not only is ugly, but does not strive for anything of value.except oil, except monetary gains.

This is a rascist war. But of course you too are blind to that fact. This is sad.

Posted by: Les at March 20, 2003 02:32 PM

The ignorance and stupidity of that comment does not bear replying.

I will say this, I'm not blind, you just don't care enough about our security, and the Iraqi's freedom to want to do anything. Or maybe you are blind to it.

Did you hear the Iraqi woman's in Britain's report about what she witnessed this regime doing?

The only thing mild enough to get past the FCC for our news was her watching them throw people into a shredder. Sometimes head first and they'd die quickly. Sometimes feet first so you'd hear them screaming as they were shredded.

Posted by: skywalker at March 20, 2003 02:40 PM

Where was the US when the Kurds were slaughtered?
In support of Hussein.
YOu are blind. Closed and mentally retarded.

Posted by: Les at March 20, 2003 02:48 PM

You moron, that is one of the things that ENDED out support of him.

Posted by: skywalker at March 20, 2003 08:54 PM

I know that.
I asked where was the United States?
...while Hussein was murdering the Kurds.

Posted by: Les at March 20, 2003 09:14 PM

Possibly not aware that it was happening until afterwards? Or is that to simple for you?

We also had several presidents stand by and do nothing because of the idiocy that was Vietnam preceding them. That might have something to do with it.

Should we just stand by now because we have in the past?

Posted by: skywalker at March 20, 2003 09:19 PM

We have GREAT intelligence. of course we knew saddam was murdering Kurds.

YOU aren't standing by.
There will probably be civil war in Iraq. Brought much sooner by US troops. And of course, it will help the war very much, less work for the soldiers. This all started when Britain decided to carve up the middle east the way she saw fit...with complete disregard to Tribes, cultures, and religion.

Posted by: Les at March 20, 2003 11:59 PM

BTW you definitelyfrench have been put on permanant STFU
STFU ? What does this mean ?

You make me laugh with your excuses. Anyway the situation is clear : there was a large alliance in the first gulf war, everybody agreed on it.
This war has been decided by the USA, with UK backing against the UNO will, it is clearly condemned by major countries...
Italy and spain support this war but only in words... Italy has opened only part of it's air bases. None are sending troops. They had in the last...
I don't see the point in discussing this.

Now about the kurds... Did you know that some people think that action was a joing move of Irak and Iran. (I can give you the source in French)
Why not see this action not a specific war crime, but as a sign that the kurds have to be given a state, wich would modify the frontiers of turkey Iran and Irak. Iran and turkey firmly oppose kurds... they do not do much better than Irak.
And by the way Irak was still a very firm ally of the USA 3 days before it invaded Kuwait.
Proof of it exists.
Nobody cares about the kurds because solving their problem would require a huge war and much diplomacy in a touchy region...

so.
Better french than kurd.

Posted by: definitilyfrench at March 21, 2003 05:47 AM

The Kurdish issue will become another Palestinian issue. It is time other more powerful countries allowed others to forge their own sovereignty.

Yes, it will be bloody. All revolutions are. But in the end the people will have a democracy created by their hands rather than imposed.

What would it have been like had England imposed their might on us in 1850 and forced the US to give up their slavery? We would not have appreciated it.
