WITH THE MARINES IN SOUTHERN IRAQ – Marines driving deep into southern Iraq were greeted by Iraqi civilians yesterday who waved and gave the advancing force a "thumbs-up."

No resistance. Cities cut ot of the rest of the country and hopes of surrender. Complete control of the sky and of information.
Most of the deaths come from accidents. Just as in the first gulf war... Irakis
Turcs and kurds have formed a joint commission with americans...
The main risks in fact are outside of Irak. Opposition in the world is still very strong, and growing. Out of this war Al Quaida recruits. Winners of this war USA and allies may find it hard to get the UNO approval of their occupation... And the Iraki government may stand either ignored by the international community if under USA And allies control or fall out of the hands of the USA and british government control into the hands of the UNO.
So far, mostly good news for this administration though.
things are going well
Posted by: definitelyfrench at March 23, 2003 04:01 PMfunny how in France the irakis interviewed on the radio (the ones I've heard were interviewed in jordany) were against the USA intervention and willing to die for saddam
Posted by: definitelyfrench at March 23, 2003 08:04 PMFunny how most of the Iraqi's in France are legal immigrants and most of the Iraqi's in America are asylum seekers...

I did not get that one...
Asylum seekers are legal immigrants no ?
We have some irakis in here ... Not many. I don't know their opinion. Some people during the protests were holding iraki flags, but I did not ask if they were irakis.
Legal Immigrant == someone who obtained a visa and stayed in this country long enough to obtain citizenship.
Asylum seeker == someone who got into this country by one of many means, but gained permanant residency due too a want for refuge from an oppressive country, or certain death upon return to country of origin.
We have some Iraqi's here who don't support the war. They are far outnumbered by those who do.
Then, 97% of French are against the war. This means most likely that your media is against it. So what stops them from seeking such Iraqi's out? I can think of one MSNBC host..err former host haha...who did that.
Posted by: skywalker at March 24, 2003 12:46 AMwell... No happy greetings any more. Suicide bombers. Volunteers. Iraki people hate saddam but still fear him AND they Hate invadors, thos bombing their country.
So... We've had bets on how soon the war would start ? Who's betting on when it ends ?
I bet for ?? hard to see.
Well the way it goes... I bet for ...
Arab countries asking the US to stop using their soil end of may.
UNO resolution asking for end of war same date.
Blair pulling out.
Saddam claiming victory. Intelligence action to have him assassinated.
Ok let's make the bet this way : when will the fighting in Irak be over.
End of june.
And this whatever the result.
CENTRAL IRAQ (Reuters) - Some U.S. troops said on Sunday they had been told a pause in land advances toward Baghdad could last several weeks
another said 35 to 40 days...
definitelyfrench, let me throw you a clue since you seem to be lacking one. The suicide bombers you speak of are not from Iraq. They are from other places where crazy people want to die for false idols. The Iraqi people are so terrorized by Saddam they are not showing how happy they are until they are positive he can't hurt them anymore.
Posted by: Muddy at March 30, 2003 10:05 AMfalse idols ?
The Iraqi people are so terrorized by Saddam they are not showing how happy they are until they are positive he can't hurt them anymore.
that is true.
But only part of the truth.
Russians hated Stalin. ANd loved him.
They feared him and would have died for him.
Propaganda at work. Love of ones country.
