You must bow to Microsoft because we did...

Ok, two web sites in two days, and I'm sure it won't stop.

This is what I see when visiting buymusic.com...

Thank you for visiting BuyMusic.com.

In order to take full advantage of BuyMusic.com's offerings you must be on a Windows Operating System using Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher.
Download Internet Explorer Here.

I say to hell with Microsoft and their cheaply built and over priced software. What really REALLY kills me is Internet Explorer has got to be the worst browser in the world. It's the Least compliant to the internet standards.

Mozilla 1.4 and it's sister browser Netscape 7.1 are far more compliant to the internet standards than IE ever will be. It's a big fat joke, and I'm tired of being part of it. If a company can't see their being Ignorant and making a huge mistake by limiting their profit potential by only accepting the limited amount of IE users out there, then who needs them.

As I sit here writing this in mozilla I wonder how stupid a web master must be to only accept IE connections to their site, It shows a real lack of brain power.

Ah well, such is life. The stupid will reign while the enlightened toil.

Don't do business with those places. Shoot them off an email letting them know you can't give them any of your money and that you're going to add them to your list hosted on your website of places that force users to bow to Microsoft.

*wink, wink* Time for a new thread, no?

Muddy: Sorry Bro check your logs. Internet Exporer IS the internet standard. I am glad that it is. Having designed a number of websites myself I always found that cross compatibility between browsers to be a problem. I was very happy to see netscape go away and I would be very happy if mozilla would do that same. There are many sites where you can check statistics of average internet users and Internet Explorer usage is in the 90 percentile. I dont know how long this will last with the new browsers like firebird and safari but I dont see the average user downloading mozilla when internet explorer is on every windows desktop.

That's where your wrong Cwilli. Internet Exploder IS NOT the standard. It IS sad to say the most popular. Being popular does not make it the best. Mozilla and Firebird are by FAR more standard/compliant that Exploder will every dream of being. Ask any professional web design studio about standards and getting "IE" to work as the WWW Consortium designed the web to work. It's a hack, Micro$oft has been fighting the W3C trying to make the web work how Billy boy wants it, not how the world wants it.

If a developer chooses to make sites that ONLY work in IE than imho they are mindless fools.
The web and as well the world do not revolve around M$.

Muddy,

I consider myself a professonal a web designer and when I design a website I am not putting any thought into the W3C. While I do design for cross compatibility, I do not just design for browser choice but also color depth and monitor resolution just to name a few.

I hated Netscape and I dont care for Mozilla. I think they both are clunky, slow loading browsers. They take up way too much memory and startup very slowly. Hell by the time you get to the splash screen on mozilla, I am already on my first website in IE.

Besides the real argument is that market share creates standards. Standards dont create market share. So if less than 10 percent of the users follow what you call a standard, then its not really a standard. More of a suggestion and a small one at that.

Your hatred of Microsoft is blinding you. IE is a good browser. I am as much of a fan of open source as you are. I do not like the Windows OS because of its security. But that does not mean that everything Microsoft is crap.

Quote "Your hatred of Microsoft is blinding you."

I never said I hated them, I think they produce poor quality garbage that is pushed onto the masses by lies and half truths. As for market share, that's debatable.

Who gives a crap what is the most "standardized" we browser? Like it or not, IE is the most used browser in the world, and the easiest to use. No users out there care if their browser meets all the standards, they just want to check their email.

You are just another Microsoft basher...which are all too common nowdays. Not all Microsoft products are garbage that are pushed out onto the unsuspecting masses. I'm a programmer, and personally, I think Microsoft has done a lot to simplify writing software for their operating system. They're a smart company. They try to make it as easy as possible to develop for their OS, because they know that the more developers they have writing software for Windows, the better the demand. If this makes Microsoft rich...so be it. I'm just glad their has become somewhat of a standard for us developers so we don't have to keep up with 10 different operating systems.

You really need to get over your jealousy, and get rid of the bullcrap stereotypes that are so trendy in the high tech industry. Microsoft may be a monopoly, and yes, they have done some rotten things in the past. But I don't think all their software is total crap. .NET is taking over Java, and that's not because it's crap. Get a life.
