MADRID, Spain — Al Qaeda has reportedly claimed responsibility for a series of bombings in Madrid Thursday that left at least 190 people dead and 1,240 wounded, just three days before Spain's general elections.

The Arabic newspaper Al-Quds al-Arabi said Thursday it had received a claim of responsibility for the Madrid train bombings issued in the name of Al Qaeda, the terror organization responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

The five-page e-mail claim, signed by the shadowy Brigade of Abu Hafs al-Masri, was received at the paper's London offices. It said the brigade's "death squad" had penetrated "one of the pillars of the crusade alliance, Spain."

"This is part of settling old accounts with Spain, the crusader, and America's ally in its war against Islam," the claim said.

Referring to Spain's Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, the statement asked: "Aznar, where is America? Who will protect you, Britain, Japan, Italy and others from us?"

The newspaper faxed the claim to The Associated Press office in Cairo.

The paper's editor Bari Atwan told Fox News the alleged letter from Al Qaeda "looks authentic" and consistent with letters the paper has received from the terrorist organization in the past.

A van containing several detonators and an Arabic-language tape of Koranic verses was found near Madrid, Interior Minister Angel Acebes said later Thursday, announcing that new lines of investigation into the bombings were being opened.

Man, we should find a way to negotiate with al-quaeda, that'll solve everything.

I think we should send a bunch of black ninjas to rappel out of helicopters into the middle of al-qaeda's traning camps and scare the crap out of them! That'll stop the 'em!

Wait a minute! That was Clinton's idea! Dangit! I *hate* it when all the good one's are taken!

Excuse me, don't you mean, african-american ninjas? Much the way Hillary Clinton once referred to "African-American South Africans."

"Excuse me, don't you mean, african-american ninjas?"

"Much the way Hillary Clinton once referred to "African-American South Africans". "

Very funny. :-(

Invade Irak :
Talk about an intelligent move !
The world is more secure for sure !!!

Proof is now on the open that the invasion was unprepared, that there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction, no immediate threat ...

But some oil to drill.

And there are some dangerous terrorist who use this situation to rally others to their cause.

Spain should now move out of the coalition, unless there is real progress towards democracy in Iraq.

Unless there is real progress? You must not read.

No WMDs? Yet to be proven, and never will be unless Hussein starts talking. Same with the immediate threat. Unprepared invasion? Wtf are you talking about?

Oil to drill? Funny, seeing as how we get a majority of our oil from Canada and haven't gotten a drop from Iraq since the war began.

DF:

Just because we haven't *found* the WMDs yet doesn't mean there aren't any. After all we (Americans) haven't found Jimmy Hoffa yet but that doesn't mean his remains aren't out there - in *some* shape or form. Quite frankly, since decades have gone by with *out* finding Hoffa....my moneys on the WMDs to be found first.

"Spain should now move out of the coalition, unless there is real progress towards democracy in Iraq."

Spain has given in to the terrorists. Thats fine because we will soon learn that giving the terrorists what they want will only cause the terrorists to have more things to want.

Also I noticed today that there was a bomb found on a train in Paris. Funny because no other nation has appeased more terrorists than the French. Let me think. France is not helping in Iraq. France is not supporting the war on terrorism... Thats funny I wonder why France found a bomb on a train today?

Must be the Bush administration, right DF? I mean, really, who else could want to put a bomb on a train in France???? Certainly not the terrorists because no country is more 'terrorist' friendly than France.....

Well at any rate the French have raised their terror alert today from 'run' to 'hide'. (That was from Rush Limbaugh)
