"SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - Osama bin Laden's terror network claims to have bought ready-made nuclear weapons on the black market in central Asia, the biographer of al-Qaida's No. 2 leader was quoted as telling an Australian television station.
In an interview scheduled to be televised on Monday, Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir said Ayman al-Zawahri claimed that "smart briefcase bombs" were available on the black market. It was not clear when the interview between Mir and al-Zawahri took place."

Posted by cwilli at March 24, 2004 11:11 AM | TrackBackLets face it; most Americans have forgotten about 9/11. We have done such a good job fighting terrorism and bringing the fight to the terrorists (on their own soil) that we no longer feel threatened and are back to our pre 9/11 mindset that terrorism is a foreign problem. It is very sad to realize that, because of our short attention span, it will take another 9/11 to get our attention.
Does anybody else remember what it was like to look at the sky and not see a single plane flying???
In the days following 9/11 there was a very high sense of patriotism. We were feeling a sort of togetherness that I believed would pull us together as a country. That is gone. Also gone is the fight inside us to make sure this does not happen again.
When the terrorists attacked the WTC the first time they knew that we as Americans would forget. They counted on that fact and began planning right away for the next attempt. They knew that if they waited long enough we would have forgotten all about it. They also were counting on Americans being soft like we were the first time they struck the WTC. They were almost right. They had our complete attention for a minute. That minute has passed.
Like it or not George Bush is not soft on terrorism. Like it or not nobody knows exactly how John Kerry will be on the subject from one hour to the next. He waffles back and forth on everything and so why would National Defense be any different?
I wonder if the terrorists are watching the elections and taking the outcome in consideration when planning their next attack? I wonder if they are counting on the fact that we have a short attention span.
I think so. It's only a matter of time.....
