
Pakistan says more than 60 suspects were killed and more than 160 captured in the large offensive it launched last month against suspected Islamic militants, and tribesmen aiding them, in the border region. Mr. Khalilzad says although the offensive was "positive and hopeful," the Taliban continues to be able "to base, train and operate from Pakistan."

From the sounds of it this al-Sadr is just another power hungry extremist. It'll be over in a couple weeks
Aside from that, 78% of Iraqi's say they feel it is not right to fight against coalition forces. This alone makes Kennedy's Vietnam comparison invalid as in Vietnam, the majority of South Vietnamese wanted a takeover by the North.

Most of the people from algeria wanted to be part of France, and treated as french citizen ... AS the war of algeria went on and on, separation became the only solution...
With vietnam it was the same, repression when it lingers on only props up more rebellion.
I hope Moqtada Sadr can be arrested soon, if not, he'll become another hero ... ANd things may get out of control.
