Fired Christian Wins Discrimination Suit Against AT&T

DENVER – A federal judge has awarded nearly $150,000 to a man fired by AT&T Broadband for refusing to sign a diversity policy requiring him to "value" the beliefs of others, including gays.
Albert Buonanno, 47, said he is a Christian and loves all people regardless of their lifestyle.

"But I cannot value homosexuality and any different religious beliefs," Buonanno said Monday, after the ruling was made public. "I think AT&T should be able to expect certain behavior from people, but not force their beliefs on people."

cwilli note: I am glad to see that the law protects those who are descriminated against, even if they are Christian....

Proof that what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

I nearly sued my current college (i had planned to if I was not accepted) because they made me jump through obscene hoops to get in. In the end I probably only got in because I'm a legacy student. (my grandfather went there.) This despite my grades being as good as the average student there and my SAT score being better than the average student there (I had to have an SAT score in the top 10% of their current freshman class when I applied.) Not to mention my extracurriculars and volunteer work.

Sound like a violation of equal protection under the law? Being that it is a public college, I think so.

Was I really going to be that upset? No but I would have won, and I would have made a point.

And for the record, since I've been there, they've changed their admissions policies to be the same for all students.

Was it because you were homeschooled or because of something else?

Correct. Private school students and Public school students were held to lower standards than homeschooled students at the time.
