In what the CDC says is due to money, teen smoking has decreased. This is a good thing if you look at it from the point of view (as I do) that smokers are stupid. It also means less adults will be smoking in the future. Why? Because how many people actually start smoking once they are old enough to legally purchase cigarettes? I've met one.
This however is a bad thing for teenage guys who are now having a harder time trying to identify which girls are "easy." Oh well, sorry for you pals!
On a similar note, while driving around today I saw a woman who judging by the obscenely beat up and old car, clothing and dumb founded look on her face and even more so, the cigarette in her hand, just had to have an IQ similar to her inseam. To make matters worse, she was sitting in a car with a girl who bore a vague resemblance to her, and might have been 13 - also smoking.
I'm serious, I have issues with smokers. You want to talk about pollution? Get people to quite smoking, and then we can talk about pollution! How about these jerks who dump their ash tray out in the parking lot! I once had one do it right in front of me after he watched me sweep up the other trash in the parking lot.
I'm not kidding. When I was managing 2 computer stores, I refused to hire anyone who smoked, regardless of qualifications. Why would I? The one time I did, he was on a break every 15 minutes smoking a cigarette! Yet, he wondered how I got so much more done than him in the busier of the 2 stores. He also proved to be incopetent, despite his being well versed as a technician on paper.
Oh well. One last thing. The stats still say 20% of smokers. Sorry, but that is far higher than it needs to be.

OR that *smoking* is stupid?
"...teenage guys who are now having a harder time trying to identify which girls are "easy." "
"Easy" girls don't really need a cigarette between their fingers to send out the "easy" signs.
"I saw a woman who judging by.....the cigarette in her hand, just had to have an IQ similar to her inseam."
Ok, low self (inseam? did you mean *Esteem*?) tied to cigarette smoking, I can give you....but, low IQ tied to cigarettes? I've NEVER heard of THAT one...unless you've uncovered some information I'm ignorant to?
"I have issues with smokers."
Really? It doesn't show. Personally, *I* have an issue with *smoking*...which is why I don't do it.
"How about these jerks who dump their ash tray out in the parking lot!"
Dude, I've met more smokers who find that action completely disgusting, irresponsible and trashy than I have those who *would* do that.
"I refused to hire anyone who smoked, regardless of qualifications. Why would I? The one time I did, he was on a break every 15 minutes smoking a cigarette!"
So...you get screwed by ONE idiot smoker and you make the rest of them flip the bill for it! With all due respect...you're too intellegent to act and say something that stupid! I've worked with smokers who could put non-smokers to shame with how hard they work. Two of the best managers I've EVER had Both smoked. They would both threaten to write up those few smokers who *did* try to steal more break time here and there.
The thing is, I hate cigarettes too (ironically, cigar smoke - as long as they're not "cheap" cigars and pipes don't really bother me). The smoke burns my eyes and gets in my mouth and throat until I just gag. But, I don't think of them as "stupid" people. I mean, don't you think that's being a bit closed minded?
Posted by: mrs. muddy at June 19, 2004 12:44 AMReal easy, low IQ is tied to stupid actions. IOW, if you do stupid stuff habitually, then you're probably not all that bright. We all do stupid stuff, but it is the people who continue to do stuff who generally aren't very smart. As far as being easy...it is real simple, one risky behavior leads to another.
As far as workers...that's just the experience I had when I had to hire them. I've also worked with alot of smokers and while occassionally I can find one who is a hard worker, they generally are lazy, not all that bright, and are constantly taking smoke breaks. Come on! They spend a God awfula mount of money on drugs (cigarettes.) It all leads to a big sign that reads "I'm stupid and irresponsible."
I like cigar and pipe smoke's smell too, but I still don't like being around people who do it.
Remember, I encounter alot of smokers in the Marine corps too and my experience there generally applies.

Well, not *learning* from your mistakes/stupidity can very well be tied to a low IQ BUT there are tons of people out there with a low IQ who have learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADD/ADHD. Those people may not have a very high IQ but they're not stupid either. Many are very creative AND have great common sence...which is sometime more important than a average to high IQ.
"IOW, if you do stupid stuff habitually, then you're probably not all that bright.
Yes, I do understand your point and I agree to a degree (right now, I'm not sure to how *much* of a degree I'm going for right now as *I'm* very tierd and being too stupid to go to bed...but we'll keep that between us).
"We all do stupid stuff, but it is the people who continue to do stuff who generally aren't very smart."
...aren't very smart to a certain degree, yes very true. So in that case, let me ask you this. How much coffee and pop do you drink? Caffeine is a drug in itself and it is habbit forming. Junk food is addicting too. Both caffeine AND junk food can make the body feel like crap and run it down in the long run but people eat and drink it everyday - habitually. What does *that* say?
"As far as being easy...it is real simple, one risky behavior leads to another."
Yes, I understood where you were going with that point but you made it sound like EVERY girl who smokes is easy. Sorry, maybe that was me reading more into it than needed to be?
"They spend a God awfula mount of money on drugs (cigarettes.) It all leads to a big sign that reads "I'm stupid and irresponsible." "
Again...totally understand what you're saying. There are also those (the same people in alot of cases) who go out and spend even MORE money on alcohol....and THAT becomes even MORE irresponsible. Plus, going back to the junk food and junk/fast food. I know most people will think I'm insain for believing that this can be compared to cigarrettes but what it all says to me is:
"I don't care what I do to my body nor how I treat it. I'm going to feed it whatever I want and expect it not to come back and haunt me later through diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke...."
To me, THAT attitude is VERY stupid (though I try not to be judgemental towards people about it) and the majority of America behaves that way...scary, huh?
Posted by: mrs. muddy at June 19, 2004 02:01 AMI find smokers to be stupid, smoking to be stupid, stupid people who can't spell to be stupid, and stupid people who eat chocolate on whole wheat toast while watching STARGATE: ATLANTIS to be made of pinecones and softswirl ice cream.
Laura will investigate the sandwiches one day.

"...stupid people who can't spell to be stupid"
Isn't that a repetitive statement? What do you think of *smart* people who can't or have a hard time spelling?
"...and stupid people who eat chocolate on whole wheat toast while watching STARGATE: ATLANTIS to be made of pinecones and softswirl ice cream."
Well, what are the *smart* people who eat chocolate on wheat toast while watching stargate atlantis made of?
As far as the rest of it:
Huh?
