UN Has been Finding Evidence of WMDS

UN weapons experts have found 20 engines used in Iraq's banned Al Samoud 2 missiles in a Jordanian scrap yard, along with other equipment that could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction.

Read the Story at The Courier Mail

The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in 2003.

Read the story at The World Tribune

*Edit* I fixed the second link, there was an error in the cut&paste.

*Editor's Note* Now, I'm going to tell you what they didn't explain so well. These were engines that could have been used to assemble new missiles, since missiles of this size and nature don't generally come assembled. Also, they had tags on them marking them as having been monitored sometime in the past, but obviously not recently. They were found in Jordan, along with some in a Dutch port after having been shipped out of the country with scrap metal!
*End of Note*

The argument from the other side:

1. This is not the smoking gun.
2. This does not mean anything.
3. There is no proof that they used this for WMD.
4. There is no 8X10 glossy of these engines and Saddam with a sign saying 'these are what you have been looking for'

There will NEVER be enough proof for them. That is until one of thier family memeber gets killed by a terrorist.

Then you will hear nothing but 'we should have been more protected' and it will STILL be our fault.

Hey, cwilli, read the second story.

BTW, those engines, are by definition parts of a WMD.

I just read it. Now why isnt that frontpage in the New York Times????

I wonder.....

Posted by: cwilli at June 18, 2004 04:21 PM

Cwilli is right, there will NEVER be enough evidence, never.

Posted by: muddy at June 18, 2004 04:21 PM

Because it is vindication cwilli.

How long have I said that is a huge possibility? Since the war began I believe. And now the UN agrees with me!

BTW, I had to dig HARD for that story. Usually the AP or Reuters has what I want, but I had to dig hard. Also, check the date on that story.

As for the NY Times, I'm soon to post a story that will make the NY Times sound so intellectually dishonest that it will be pathetic.

Good God, Skywalker! Post post post! Leave some room for the rest of us. haha. Besides, is GT and the Marines not giving you enough to do today to where you become a posting maniac?:-) If you are in need of more to do, *I* have quite a few things around here that I could use some help with.:-P Here's a hint...bring a paint brush.

Well, I can't get the second link to work so I don't know if it *my* computer or if there is a problem with it now. Ok, time for my "stupid" question of the day. Maybe I'm not reading the 1st article correctly (I've only read it through 3 times now) Who's responsible for throwing the materials into the scrap yard?

Posted by: mrs. muddy at June 19, 2004 07:03 PM

Essentially what happened is that someone who didn't know what he was looking at in either the interim govt or the colaition forces thought they were dealing with scrap and exported the engines as such (since that is one way Iraq has been making money.) The UN saw them in a scrap yard and went holy s---! So it could have been us or the Iraqi's.
