Ok, we've All said it before and *I'll* say it again. We just don't hear enough of the *good* news coming out of Iraq. SO, with that in mind, I decided about a week ago I decided to go on a mission and find articles to share. Well, unfortunately, I'm not finding a whole lot (who says the media isn't liberal biased?). Why did I look so hard for it? Well, I believe, personally (as I think we all do to a degree) that when you hear and see so much negativity coming from the news (not to mention this new propaganda tactic that Moore put out in the form of a movie) then you tend to really believe that, that's all there IS to see and hear. Soon, this way of thinking fills up our spirit, then very quickly (as has happened already) this thinking spreds like wildfire throughout the rest of society and almost overnight, everyone starts believing that everything is "just horrible" and *nothing* is going right.
Well, that started me thinking: These brave men and women are calling home (and in some cases are *comming* home) and hearing from their families about how everyone is saying how Iraq is "such a failure" and how we've screwed things up and made them worse. Now imagine yourself over there - maybe in some cases since the war began - away from your family and all those you love. You're working SO damn hard to help these people back on their feet and to give them back opportunities that an evil dictator stole from them. You, along with your unit (as well as the entire coililition as a whole) have helped to rebuild schools, hospitals, road ways, bridges and phone lines; you've worked to improve the sewage systems amd worked to help give immunizations to the Iraqi childern not to mention supporting a new currency in the country that does not bear a tyrants evil, ugly face. Then, You *finally* get a chance to call home to share your inspiring stories of success to your family and friends just to hear from everyone of how some people refer to what *your* doing as a "failure"! Now, I'm sure the military are all trained very well to do their jobs no matter what kind of BS comes out from the knuckle headed penut gallery, BUT, *I* still don't think that it would be doing much for their moral.
Now, I also don't think (in alot of cases) that when people say "Iraq is a failure" that they mean to refer to the men and women stationed over there. BUT, how would YOU take it?! You're the one doing the work that everyone is refering to as a failure! Even the democrat's main man - John kerry, himself has refered to Iraq as a failure....is this the method he plains on using in hopes of build up the military's moral? If so...me thinks he should rethink it and, while he's at it - shut up!
All I'm saying is that especially with the 4th of July weekend here, we need to remember what *ALL* of our brave men and women have done. Past AND present. AND be damn thankful that they *gave/give* a damn to defend us all. And as you read this article I have linked then maybe some of you could try to put yourself in this man's shoes, if just for a second, and think about how he might feel about Iraq being a "supposed" failure. Hopefully, some will be more careful of what they say and how they say it. Unfortunately, though, (for some of you anyway) I'm not going to allow any comments on this unless muddy, cwilli, or skywalker (if he has any stories from his friends to possibly add) want to edit something in. As for some of you, I'm not going to allow this story - no matter how "minor" it may be to some of your thinking - be bastardized by negativity.
Happy 4th and many hugs and kisses to ALL our service men and women past and present where ever you are. Thank you so much for you're service! May God bless and keep you all. :-)
