RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's health worsened on Wednesday and an ambulance rushed to his West Bank headquarters, medical sources and witnesses said.
Israel Radio said Arafat had lost consciousness, but a senior Palestinian official said that was untrue.
Palestinian officials have repeatedly said that Arafat is recovering from a bout of "stomach flu," but he has not appeared in public for days, fueling speculation over the seriousness of his condition.
An ambulance brought three medics late on Wednesday to the battered compound in Ramallah, where he has been effectively pinned by Israeli forces for more than 2-1/2 years.
"His health has deteriorated and there are plans to move him to the hospital in Ramallah," one medical source told Reuters.

How Christian of you.
Posted by: bennyhill1978 at October 28, 2004 12:00 PMThank you!
Posted by: cwilli at October 28, 2004 12:21 PMI don't take pleasure in it, but I'm certainly not going to shed a tear.
Come now, take pleasure in the misfortune of another is also a symptom of disgust with that other person.
A symptom of hypocrisy is complete disgust with a government that you then go to work for.
Posted by: skywalker at October 28, 2004 09:29 PMI suppose you already know that who ever might replace arafat will be better ...
You are very confident.
WHo ever takes the job will still face an israeli occupation, angered palestinians having lost their territory, family members, terrorist groups unwilling to cooperate and so on ...
And divisions might well appear in the process...
And what if Sharon were shot like Rabin was. Would you think things work out themselves ...
I have no idea who will replace Arafat. He's a terrorist so I can't imagine his replacement being any better.
Hey DF, pop quiz, in what time period did a nation called palestine exist in that part of the world? What country contains the majority of the palestinion mandate? Why did Israel strike pre-emptively? How quickly after becoming a nation was Israel attacked? Of what nationality/ethnicity is Arafat?
Posted by: skywalker at October 30, 2004 03:46 PMI can answer most, however I know DF can't.
Sadly he most likely does not care as it does not suite his slanted ideas.
Posted by: muddy at October 30, 2004 03:54 PMHe will post a extremely long post that will not answer any of those questions but will somehow point to the fact the the United States.
Just going on past experience
Point to the fact that the United States is to blame. Sorry
