A California teacher has been barred by his school from giving students documents from American history that refer to God -- including the Declaration of Independence.
Steven Williams, a fifth-grade teacher at Stevens Creek School in the San Francisco Bay area suburb of Cupertino, sued for discrimination on Monday, claiming he had been singled out for censorship by principal Patricia Vidmar because he is a Christian.
"It's a fact of American history that our founders were religious men, and to hide this fact from young fifth-graders in the name of political correctness is outrageous and shameful," said Williams' attorney, Terry Thompson.
"Williams wants to teach his students the true history of our country," he said. "There is nothing in the Establishment Clause (of the U.S. Constitution) that prohibits a teacher from showing students the Declaration of Independence."

Posted by Muddy at November 24, 2004 05:14 PM | TrackBackThis is just sad, and outrageous. The citizens of that school district should be flooding that district's H.Q. with complaints. The principal should be terminated and that teacher given his job back. When the founding documents are prohibited by communist/socialists who oppose America, God, Apple Pie and Football (yea the last two were for humor) they need to be shipped free of charge to France, Iran or other American hating land and banned from ever returning.
Posted by: Muddy at November 24, 2004 05:27 PMas with everything, your getting half the story and going crazy over it. typical reactionary. the guy was a right wing christian nutcase who was handing out papers with christian ideology all over them. the principle at the school stoped him from doing this and wanted to review all of his curriculum before he continued teaching.
im sure you would be the first one to start a fuss if some islamic teacher started handing out tons of papers about the prophet muhhamed and how he is from god and the founding fathers belived in god.

BWAHAHAHAH. OPEN YOUR EYES MOOSEBOY!
They DO teach islam in our schools, only they do in a much more clever way; through the textbooks.
In fact here is the teachers guide to Islam;

Here is a good article by Worldnewsdaily about a Saudi-funded Islamic activists have final say in shaping public-school lessons on religions:

Here is another great article on the Islamizing of Our Schools;

Can I quote that last one?
"Students may choose to fast for one, two or three days. During this time, students may only drink water during daylight hours."
AND
""America's Christian children had better not even utter the name Jesus Christ in public schools without persecution and prosecution by the 'separation of church and state' zealots."
ALL THIS AND YET MUDDY WAS NOT THE FIRST ONE TO START A FUSS!
Wake up. You want hypocritical? Here is hypocritical. The person who accuses a Christian of descrimination is called a victim, But if someone descriminates AGAINST a Christian, the person complaining is just a right wing Christian nutcase.
Christianity is under attack in this Country and I will be the first one to pick up a sword and take the fight.
When will the Christians stop being so passive?

So just what DID President Clinton do? He "negotiated." Evidence shows Clinton cut a deal with Islamic leaders to legalize and protect Muslim indoctrination in our public schools. If Clinton could give Islam the conversion of our youth, Islam's resolve to destroy America would be appeased.

Oh, so i guess you agree and support all the insurgents in iraq who are Defending Islam against the christian invaders that support evil israel right?
muslim indoctrination in public schools...... OK.
you are just as pathetic as all the mullahs in iran.
"Oh, so i guess you agree and support all the insurgents in iraq who are Defending Islam against the christian invaders that support evil israel right?"
I would never support another religion who is ordered to kill anyone who does not follow the same believes. I prefer religious freedom, thank you. But at the same time, dont take my rights away. You cant just take one redeeming value (willingness to fight what you belive to be right), assign it to a situation, and forgive everything else. They want to kill all non-muslims and they will kill muslims to achieve that goal. So dont take my goals to protect my religion and assume, based on that alone, that I agree with everything they do because we share 1 value. This shows how little you understand.
and By the way. They want to kill you, too.
Then again, I am just a Christian, therefore I have no rights.
"you are just as pathetic ...."
see, thats how you know you have out debated someone; They start calling you names.
If it will help, I can go slower...

Oh really wise one, please do tell us the "Whole" story.
:-P
Posted by: Muddy at November 27, 2004 12:19 PMThe all thing looks scary !!!
I can't believe it is so.
Saying how things were is not saying how they are meant to be.
The trial is crazy.
But why does it go to the press. Is there any chance that the trial may be lost by the teacher ?
Because in this country DF everything gets press, just somethings more than others.
Posted by: skywalker at November 29, 2004 10:44 AMParents of students attending the school in queston should criticize the principle for taking free speech away depicted by our founding fathers and the Declaration of Independence. Students need to know what this great country was founded on and to be taught to keep our heritage true to its original intent. The principla should be fired as an example for stopping the freedoms that were fought so desperately by our ancestors.
Posted by: Helen Lautt at December 5, 2004 05:19 PMwell Helen, the problem is that 95% of parents have zero involvement in their children's educations.
Posted by: skywalker at December 5, 2004 06:15 PMits amazing all the half truths people are willing to belive.
