Head to the polls and show America how it's done, our pitiful 40-50% turn out will be overshadowed by your will to be free. Walk into those voting places with your head held high knowing that you are at last free people.
Now all that's left is to kill those filthy terrorists pouring in from the surrounding countries.
OMG!!! I am so happy for them!:-D Approximately, 72% turn out! Sheppard Smith even said (reporting from Bagdad) that he heard in some cases where people walked 13 miles just to vote! You would *never* see that here in America! I don't think *we've* even had that big of a turn out in our own history of America!
Plus, I must say that it was a smart idea on their part to ink the fingers of the people once they were done voting (so they could make sure no one would go vote twice). Maybe we should try that here.:-)
Posted by: mrs. m at January 30, 2005 12:52 PMPeople here whine about waiting in line 20 minutes. My own mother didn't even bother to vote once because there was simply one issue ont he ballot.
I've never failed to show up when the polls were open.

This is true. This past time, though, the average wait around here was at *least* 2 hours. We're just so used to having our freedom that we *have* taken it for granted.
In Iraq, apparently they had up to five different rooms in one building where people could cast their ballots so as to cut down on the wait and making it safer for them to get in and out quicker.

Well, I've voted in every presidential election since I was eligable. As far as every time the polls open *locally*. I used to be good about that stuff, but I've slipped *horribly* in the past couple of years. However, I have made a vow to myself to be more involved. Only time will tell.
Posted by: mrs. m at January 30, 2005 02:31 PMThis is truly a good day for Iraq.
In the faces of the terrorists who tried to stop them....
Mrs M, when did you undergo this new persona change? It took me a couple of mins to figure out who you were......

LOL...It has nothing to do with a new persona....I just got lazy.:-) You know, I can sit and write out a whole post/comment but when it comes to signing my name - those last four letters were just too much for me...gave me a cramp.:-D
Stick around....I'll probably switch back and forth.
Posted by: mrs. m at January 30, 2005 03:05 PMYeah....and *you* married me.:-) So, I guess that would make you the dumb ass.:-P
Posted by: mrs. muddy at January 30, 2005 05:07 PMYeah it's some pretty good thing.
Brought by the americans.
Now let's hope some stable government can be formed, and let's see it at work. Hopefully this will restore the confidence of the iraki people in their government and curb down support to the violent groups.
Posted by: DF at February 1, 2005 04:51 AMJust keep your governement out of it and I am sure things will go fine.
Than again, I am sure they will stay out of things.
The money is gone.
