London rocked by terror attacks

london_attack.jpg
Two people have been killed and scores have been injured after three blasts on the Underground network and another on a double-decker bus in London.

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said it was "reasonably clear" there had been a series of terrorist attacks.

He said it was "particularly barbaric" that it was timed to coincide with the G8 summit. He is returning to London.

An Islamist website has posted a statement - purportedly from al-Qaeda - claiming it was behind the attacks.

one of my fellow marines grew up in Britain and has family there. He followed it pretty closely all day. Last I heard was 37 dead, 700 wounded.

Yeah, that's what we've been hearing.

"one of my fellow marines grew up in Britain and has family there."

Well, we'll keep him and his family in our prayers. Does he know if everyone's ok? Was one of his parents assigned there for duty or was he born there?

My sister lives outside of London. I knew she wouldn't have been *directly* affected by everything but considering she's in her 3rd trimester, I thought I'd check in with her to make sure the stress of everything wasn't too much. I'm happy to report mother, daddy and soon to be born baby are doing just fine.

hmm, where does your sister live outside london, what city?

Posted by: mooseboy84 at July 8, 2005 01:57 AM

She lives way outside. About an hour away according to my mom. I won't tell you the actual city though (I don't think she would appreciate that). Like I said, I never had a fear that she was caught in the blasts (obviously she's too far away). I was just worried about the stress of the situation affecting the baby and considering she had taken a trip to the hospital last week over consistant back pain (turned out to be nothing very serious), it made me extra concerned.

Besides, her husband is British so I didn't know if he had any family or friends in London. I'm still not clear on that but I'm sure everythings fine on her end. Unfortunately, the death toll is climing so hopefully with all the surveillance cameras in place there, they can put the pieces together better.

why wont you tell me? lol you think im gonna find out her name and harass her? i dont really want to know the city, i just thought it was a bit ironic you would say you have a siter that lives outside of london; because I have a sister that is pregnant [expecting within a week] that lives outside of london.

"you think im gonna find out her name and harass her?"

Moose:

I've never even given the exact city *we* live in. We just always have mentioned the closest city. Besides, earlier, I was going to give the nearest city she lives by (just not the actual town/city) but since I've never had a chance to visit yet....I don't know the area and didnt' have time to look it up on a map. I guess I should have stated that earlier.

Look, I know I sound paranoid but hey, in this world, you just can't be too careful. Besides, we all talk over this blog that's on board with this little thing we like to call the internet. The *world* *wide* *web*! Anyone of us could be someone *completely* different than who we claim to be. It's no offense to you personally, but if you can freely come here and read this, *anyone* can. Granted...if someone *really* wanted to get information on my family - I'm certain it could be done quite easily. I just don't want to make things easier for them by posting tmi.

Btw: how's your sister doing or does she live far enough away from London too? I've looked it up on the map and the county/region/providence (whatever it is) where she lives is Hertfordshire. At least that's the most *I* could make sence out of a place I've never been.

theres nothing wrong with being conservative..... well at least with personal information. LOL. i have no idea where that was, i was just wondering would you say the city my sister lived in which is dover.

my sister is doing well so far, thankyou. i hope yours is as awell. my mother, sister, and her kids are flying out next week to spend time with her for a few weeks after she has the baby. hopefully she wont have it until they get there, but it may come before then.

"theres nothing wrong with being conservative..... well at least with personal information."

*phew* I'm glad you finished that sentence there. You gave me quite a scare there for a second! I thought you were going conservative on us!!!! My dear God! For a brief moment in time, I thought the world had come to a complete and abrupt end! Well, I'm going to give my heart a second to beat back to its regular pace then retire for the evening.:-D

On a serious note - I hope everything continues to go well for your sister (and her new soon to be born bundle of joy) and that your family will have a safe trip too.

Before I read his entire comment, I went to go check (not so shameless plug) The Weather Channel (tm) to see if indeed, hell had frozen over.

It hadn't, so I read the rest of it.

Well, that settles it. Hell is *still* as hot as - well - hell; and mooseboy is still a flaming liberal. Ahhh....all is right with the world.

Posted by: mrs. muddy at July 9, 2005 08:33 AM

flaming liberal? where did you ever get that idea from? my views are entrenched with conservative ideology. im a populist-paleoconservative-seculure-multiculturalist. it makes perfect sense.
