Mayor to feds: 'Get off your asses'

(CNN) -- New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin blasted the slow pace of federal and state relief efforts in an expletive-laced interview with local radio station WWL-AM.

The following is a transcript of WWL correspondent Garland Robinette's interview with Nagin on Thursday night. Robinette asked the mayor about his conversation with President Bush:

NAGIN: I told him we had an incredible crisis here and that his flying over in Air Force One does not do it justice. And that I have been all around this city, and I am very frustrated because we are not able to marshal resources and we're outmanned in just about every respect.

You know the reason why the looters got out of control? Because we had most of our resources saving people, thousands of people that were stuck in attics, man, old ladies. ... You pull off the doggone ventilator vent and you look down there and they're standing in there in water up to their freaking necks.

And they don't have a clue what's going on down here. They flew down here one time two days after the doggone event was over with TV cameras, AP reporters, all kind of goddamn -- excuse my French everybody in America, but I am pissed.

After listening to the audio of this I can say for sure that Mayer Nagin is tapped.
He is getting very little assistance and the State and Federal levels have reacted so very slow.

Such a horrific and sad tragedy.

i am Glad someone is being outraged. I have heard people try to compare this to 9-11, but there is No comparison. 9-11 was a relative isolated incident comapred to this. you had the twin towers, and at most 2 or 3 blocks of buildings with structural damage.

the entire island of Manhatan wasnt submerged under water. you didnt have thousands of people in a situation where they havent had food for days.

Wanted to let everyone in on this. This is a JPEG of MSNBC, CNN and FOX news front pages as of noon yesterday. Compare and contrast:

If anyone still refuses to believe that Fox News is not directly the media arm of the Republican Party, this drives a stake right through the heart of it.

Oh, and Bush promised to help rebuild Trent Lott's damaged home. Great, all's well and uhhh, back to our brandy.

Hope Condi likes her shoes.

You can believe what you want to, Lurker.

The truth is I've been watching FOX, CNN, and MSNBC for the past couple of days. They ALL say the same thing. People are dying of heat, starvation and from NO water. Shepard Smith of FOX News (that's my guy - btw) Was even talking about a convoy yesterday that passed a whole freeway full of people in need and he couldn't understand why they didn't stop.

ALL American News sources are at fault for delivering opinions and sexing up the news. All of them do that. MY question is though....even though "FOG" news reported on the President's visit...how will "CN*SPIN*" and "MSNB*SCHEME*" (the one's that are the direct arm of the liberals. [hey, if *you* can go that route, so can I]) cover it? Yes, I do like a selection since I don't trust just *one* source completely.

"Oh, and Bush promised to help rebuild Trent Lott's damaged home."

what's wrong with that! Trent Lott - I believe - is a friend of Bush (or is he not allowed any?). If *your* friends home got damage...wouldn't *you* offer to help them rebuild? Or would you just turn your back simply because they have alot of money and "don't need the help"?

Besides....why don't we get off of the stupid and childish rant about what news sourse is more biased than the other and get back to wants really important shall we?

it's actually funny, because the news pages change headlines every 30 min or so, someone took the time to find a period when Fox put Bush (which was a current story) on the front and uses that to bash them.
How freakin' sad is their lives to go through that??

Anywho, I believe Fox leans more right than the rest, however when you consider (EVERYONE ELSE) leans left it's a balance of sorts.

Actually, muddy...that's an excellent point.
