A new year means new beginings but for some it means a bad start and/or finish to an already bad year. Bad things happen all the time. From the tsunami in Asia last year to the earthquake in Pakistan three months ago to the hurricane in New Orleans to the roof collapse in a German Ice skating rink just days ago to the West Virginia mine collapse. Our fellow man needs a helping hand everywhere you turn. With so many horrifying events happening throughout the world everyday, it can get a little overwhelming as to where to start first. I ask everyone to not only say a continuous prayer for ALL of these people and their loved ones but to also give to their local Red Cross. No matter where you are in the world. Donate blood and/or as much or little money as you can. It doesn't have to be alot. A little CAN go a long way.
Can you donate to my relief fund so I can get an AMD64x2 system? Im suffering with an old 1900xp, and it just doesnt cut it anymore. Ill turn this system into a linux box in your name.

Posted by: muddy at January 4, 2006 09:29 AM...and then there's always...mooseboy
Posted by: mrs. muddy at January 4, 2006 12:00 PMI would say that you can do what I did when I wanted/needed a new motherboard and cpu setup: saved my money and bought one. I didn't depend upon the generousity of others.
Posted by: skywalker at January 4, 2006 06:28 PMHmmm, if Saving worked for you, then why dont you save about $1600 and give it to me.
Jesus will love you more for doing it.:D
LOL...were you born this ornery or did you have to perfect it! Of course, I'm sure you'll take that as a compliment.:-)
Posted by: mrs. muddy at January 5, 2006 02:37 PMOf course, I do have to add, mooseboy, that if you donated as much blood and/or money as you give off hot air...you alone could save the whole continent of Africa.:-) Wow, imagine that!
Posted by: mrs. muddy at January 5, 2006 02:41 PMThat would defeat the purpose of you doing it.
It's that whole pulling yourself up by your bootstraps thing. But then, you're a liberal and you believe things should be handed to you otherwise it might jus tbe to hard.
Yeah it was hard for me to find a way to afford my '68 Mustang, but I wanted one so I found a way. It was hard for me to afoord my first car (A 1987 CRX) but I found a way. It was damned near impossible for my to find a way to afoord college, but I found a way. In February when I took out my first car loan, I wasn't to sure how I'd afford the payments, but I found a way. I didn't bitch about how other people who help me out, or wonder why the government didn't have a program to make sure I had a way to get to work and school, I just asked my family for assistance IF I should need it. And then I just worked the amount of hours I knew it would require.

Posted by: skywalker at January 7, 2006 05:45 AMDo you feel better telling your Horatio Alger story?
You could write a book called, "I found a way; The story of how hard working liberal tax payers in Georgia payed for [I mean subsidized] MY college Tuition at a public University."
Now, I think we could work out a plan where you put $400 a month in my bank account. Pat Robertson approves of this plan, and he has god on speed dial.
Im not allowed to donate my blood, its full of "liberal" globulins that build up my immunity to horation alger boot strap stories.
The kind where people talk about how they bull dozed and paved their own roads, grew their own food without goverment loans, so they could grow big and strong, to walk down the roads they paved with money from their own pocket book.
Later, after those people grew up and saved money most likely obtained by working for private enterprises that used tax shelters, they purchased a car and filled it with fuel which was subsidized by tax payer money.
To cap it all off, those same people attended PUBLIC Universities, all so they could promulgate to others the Horation Alger myth on how they did it on their own, while never having recieved a "handout."
Posted by: mooseboy84 at January 7, 2006 06:21 PMFirst off, when I started school, my school recieved less then 25% of its budget from subsidies.
Second, that amount is even lower today.
Third, "private" colleges even get subsidies these days, some much more than my school.
Fourth, I never said I had a problem with public education on the local level, I said I had a problem with it on the Federal level.
Doing it on your own, isn't a myth. No one but you can get you off your ass to do whatever it takes to get yourself what you want and get yourself where you want to be. That requires money and work from YOU. And in all honesty, subsidies probably hurt my school, which recieves the majority of its funding through alumni donations. Why? Because subsidies have mandates attached to them on how they are spent.
Also, my school started life as a military school. That is why it exists today as a public school. If you asked most people in this state (including more than one state legislator) they think my school is a private school.
What's wrong with a tax shelter, so long as it is legal? News flash mooseboy, those people who run those tax shelters for themselves, protecting their millions in assets, are the people providing the jobs so that those people who you bleed your heart for don't starve.
Now explain to me how fuel is subsidized because last time I checked, I was paying $.16 in state and federal taxes for every gallon I put in my car.
Oh btw, when did I say paving roads was not a legit gov't function? Hell, when they don't take their sweet time doing it, it is one of the few things gov't actually does pretty well!
Right now, I'd like to find $400 for my bank account so you're SOL and Pat Robertson is an idiot. How about you go get a job, and if you have one, work longer hours or get a second job, I just finished working 2 jobs for about 6 weeks. 80 hrs a week through the holidays. I'm sure you could handle it.
Posted by: skywalker at January 10, 2006 09:54 AMIm still waiting, I hope the check is in the mail.
Posted by: mooseboy84 at January 21, 2006 02:53 PMOh, you lost your job eh? Final pay check in the mail eh? That's a bummer.
Posted by: skywalker at January 22, 2006 02:00 AMWhat are you talking about? I put my hand on the TV, and Pat Robertson told me that GOD was going to do great miracles. He spoke of a check for $1600 that was in the mail.
I also except paypal.
Posted by: mooseboy84 at January 22, 2006 12:35 PMI will echo the sentiment that Pat Robertson is a complete idiot. Furthermore, I find it completely surprising that he hasn't gotten athletes mouth or even been fitted for a *bigger* mouth with all the times he's stuck both feet in there.
Posted by: mrs. muddy at January 22, 2006 01:56 PMJust when I think you've gotten as crazy as you are going to get, you tell me that Pat Robertson told you that you'll receive a $1600 check. I now know that there is not a limit on your psychosis.
