NAACP chairman compares GOP to Nazis

Civil rights activist and NAACP Chairman Julian Bond delivered a blistering partisan speech at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina last night, equating the Republican Party with the Nazi Party and characterizing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, as "tokens."

"The Republican Party would have the American flag and the swastika flying side by side," he charged.

Calling President Bush a liar, Bond told the audience at the historically black institution that this White House's lies are more serious than the lies of his predecessor's because Clinton's lies didn't kill people.

Nobody (except us) will stand up and call this fool a racist, it's sickening. People do far, far less and get politically, emotionally and socially hung, this guy will walk away with an "attaboy". -Ed

What part of his comments were untrue? Where did he call Bush a racist in that article?

First off, a lie is only a lie if you know it at the time. So tell me where Bush lied. Second, I no sooner believe the Republicans would fly a swastika along side the American flag than I believe that Democrats are responsible for freeing the slaves and bringing about civil rights.

BTW, racism is the wrong word: it means believe in genetic superiority of one race over another. What he said was a bigotted, not racist.
