Are We Danes? Or Dhimmis?

The global reaction to the uproar over the "12 Satanic Cartoons" demonstrates a growing Western embrace of the mentality of Islamic "dhimmitude" subtly disguised as political correctness. One European newspaper issued a global challenge, asking, "Are We Danes? Or Dhimmis?"

What is a 'Dhimmi?'

Under Islam, a "dhimmi" is a non-Muslim living in conquered Muslim lands. "Dhimmis" are permitted limited freedom of religion, provided there is no conflict with Islamic laws governing such things as religious symbols and images.

However, a dhimmi has virtually no rights in actual practice. The word of one "offended Muslim" can send a dhimmi to his death.

Historically, Jews living as dhimmis in Muslim countries have been subjected to daily humiliations that reduced life to a perilous uncertainty. They are required to pay a very high tax called the "jizra" for the "privilege of living among Muslims."

This latest example of Muslim intolerance and violence over any hint of insult to their religion displays clearly for all to see that their core beliefs inspire hatred and violence.

The behavior of the vast majority of Muslims puts the lie to "the political correct image of Islam as inherently peaceful and tolerant."

Yet, the continuing advance of this patently false idea by Western leaders, despite the total lack of evidence to support it, is a tacit admission that we're all dhimmis, to some degree, already.

let's see if i understand what you mean.
Organised protests by countries seeking to escape foreign interference (syria) is a "behavior of the vast majority of Muslims".

mmmh ok
so I suppose the crusades and the inquisition were also a behavior of the vast majority of christians.

So if the protests against the drawings put the lie to "the political correct image of Islam as inherently peaceful and tolerant."

then surely crusades and inquisition put the lie to "the political correct image of christianism as inherently peaceful and tolerant."

Christianism has no historical lessons to give to muslims. Christians killed and tortured. Christians invaded. Massive genocides have been attributed to christians : amerindians, jews.

THe US representants back the protestors saying that to offed religion was bad. boo.
However france and danemark stand firm and said that there's freedom of the press and also a legal framework about it, if there was misuse of that freedom, then the judicial system is there to judge it, not foreign people living in a foreign countries who were not even supposed to see the cartoons.

Ok....I'm breaking my silence hopefully just this once:

"....so I suppose the crusades and the inquisition were also a behavior of the vast majority of christians."

First off....maybe - I don't know. But I'll leave the door of opportunity open. Considering I'm not an expert on the history of either the crusades NOR the inquisitions I'll say it's possible that the majority of Christians were involved in that behavior.

But let's look at how rediculous your comparison is. (I still can't believe I breaking my silence for something so asinine! You must have caught me on an irritated day) The crusades went on for 400 years and have been over since the 14th century. They also occured (to the best of my understanding - and Skywalker, cwilli and muddy can step in here to correct me at any time if need be) to take back the Holy Lands from the Muslims and probably other enemies of the cross.

The inquisition was to (from my understanding) established for the investigation of heresy and it lasted (I *think*) until the mid 19th century.

So your argument is that because the Muslims are upset about a stupid cartoon - burning buldings, murdering people, calling for the exicution of the cartoonist, trying to silence freedom of speach - that that ranks up there with the crusades and the inqusition? It's A CARTOON!!!!!!!! A stupid, freakin' CARTOON!!!!!!! Got another argument? Because your last one just tanked.
