I admit in the past have said "our democracy" and yet knew it's a republic, whoops. This might help me to remember. :-P
"Our legal form of government is a Constitutional Republic. Through media manipulation and the constant chant of “our democracy” from either deceitful or ignorant politicians, the majority of the American people don't even understand that not only is America not a democracy, they don't know the difference."

Posted by: mooseboy84 at February 28, 2006 06:31 AMYou may want to check your facts before you make more idiotic remarks.
John and Teresa are worth far, far, far more than W. and his school teacher wife.

And even though Kerry alone is not worth as much a marriage is a partnership (at least to normal people) and you count them together.
Now if you change your source to a more "liberal" one such as the SFGate you get that Teresa is worth a BILLION!

So don't talk about the rich ones making it to the White House, that's just silly talk.
Posted by: muddy at February 28, 2006 07:23 AMIndeed, my current representative was the poorest of the candidates that ran - and he is a doctor!
Posted by: Skywalker at February 28, 2006 09:08 AMSorry Muddy but mooseboy is right precisely because Kerry and his wife are so rich.
No poor ever runs for president, besides even if one ran, it would need to raise millions and millions from wealthy individual in order to fund its campaign. So it would not change a thing, he/she would have to lick the boots of the wealthy ones
Have you watch Syriana ? Nice film. There s a private joke at one time with a congressist arguing that limiting private funding of political campaigns is a way to curb the first amendment ...
America is a plutocracy. That's the word. Ruled by the wealthiest.
Kerry BUsh, same old wealthy people in favor of big companies. Nader was the only one caring about people.
But he didn't say only rich people can win, he said the richest guy wins. Which is patently false.
