Nothing like homemade hand tossed pie using all organic ingredients.
This looked (and tasted) too good not to share with my friends.
Enjoy!
I would of also taken a pic of Mrs. Muddys pie but it has (yuck!) rice cheese on it.
Not something I'm proud of.
"I would of also taken a pic of Mrs. Muddys pie but it has (yuck!) rice cheese on it."
I would have no problem eating your pizza except for the fact the your organic cow's cheese doesn't like me.
Posted by: mrs. muddy at March 19, 2006 09:50 PMOrganic vegetables, Rice cheese? Hardcore conservative vegetarians? They say Hitler was a vegetarian....
Posted by: mooseboy84 at March 20, 2006 12:24 PM"Hardcore conservative vegetarians?"
Actually, we're moderate vegetarians.
"They say Hitler was a vegetarian...."
Ahh, mooseboy....always trying to pick a fight. Even if he was then aparently it may have been the only possitive thing he ever did in his life.
Posted by: mrs. muddy at March 20, 2006 01:07 PMJust like a conservative, defending a fascist.
I really dont understand you folks. Only the people that hate america are vegeteraians. Real americans that belive in god, the president, and that want the 10 comandments posted in their schools eat meat.
Only a Commie Pinko would eat "rice cheese." Real americans kill their animals and grill them. Only a subversive would put rice "cheese" on a pizza.
There is nothing that says God Bless america, like eating a big piece of dead cow still dripping blood.

Myself...I love beef. I do not like my beef rare. Makes me want to barf a the taste.

Skywalker's going to be at this for a while. Should we pack a lunch for you? Don't worry, we'll be sure to cook the beef thoroughly.:-)
"* Skywalker is also trying to figure out where Mrs M defended Hitler"
Hmmmm....looks like Skywalkers going to need dinner and a change of clothes as well.
Yeah, Obviously nothing moose said made any sence but that's a given, you know:-)
Oh, and BTW....Mrs. Muddy would like Skywalker to stop refering to Skywalker in 3rd person now.:-D
I dont eat beef. I'll "Eat" beef, its just that I consume it very sparingly. Mostly because its expensive, I dont really fancy the taste, and my family has never been big on "steaks." I eat meat, but its always cooked Well Done. I really dont know how people could eat "medium rare," or as my grandmother used to say, "still dripping blood and cold inside." Its the easiet thing in the world to cook meat until its half "cooked." It takes real culinary skill to cook meat "well done" without drying it out or burning it.
As bad as that steak in the above link looked, just imagine, there are people who eat their steaks RAW. Totally uncooked.
I still find it highly amusing, that very politically conservative people from, "middle america" would be hardcore vegetarians, with a vegan twinge.
Maybe this is ebcause my location, but location aside, I would venture to guess 9-10 vegetarians are on the "liberal" side of the political spectrum.
I think the overwhelming majority of "Conservatives" are in the "kill em N grillem" croud.
Whats next, Almond Milk? Tofu hotdogs, Flax seed mill cookies? You start with the tofu or soy milk, and before you know it, your voting for Hillary Clinton. If you ever went to a Whole Foods store, your heads would explode. Youd be surrounded by so many grenpeace, save the microbes liberals that you would have an aneurysm. It'd be enough to make you eat 20oz ChateuaBriand.
Posted by: mooseboy84 at March 22, 2006 07:01 AMUmm, I've been to a whole food store and didn't find that to be the case. I don't eat beef often either. I prefer turkey and chicken. My family also sticks to mostly organic foods. Why? Healthier. We however, do not have strictly vegatarian diets by any stretch of the imagination - I'll still eat processed food just not as often as most people.
Of course, I have about as much in common with the so-called conservatives in congress as a sheep does with a lion.
Posted by: skywalker at March 22, 2006 07:43 AMMoose....allow me to give you a little background on myself as well as my family.
My father had a heart attack in his 30's, he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy some years later. At age 53 he had a heart transplant - he died a week later. We were very close.
I have 2 first cousins and 1 second cousin who are diabetics. Countless aunts and uncles who suffer from arthritis. My mother, my sister and myself all suffer from fibromyalgia. And that's just some of it.
I'd be a complete IDIOT not to look at that and say, 'Ok, maybe I can't excape ALL of it or any of it, but what can I do to make myself stronger so I can fight it better?' and that's actually what I asked myself. If I eat a large or consistant portion of certain things like milk products or refined sugars - I actually get sick off of them. The milk products I can't digest well at all and refined sugar? If I eat a good portion of it, I will develop a headache with a head rush that could very possibly lead to a migraine (which I NEVER had a problem with in my life until about 6 years ago which was also the reason I realized something was wrong) not to mention the pain it brings to my muscles. That's why I don't eat out very often simply because you order so much as a vegeburger at 99% of the restaraunts out there and you can bet your bottom dollar that there's refined sugar in the bread and processed ingrediants in the side dishes. That's why muddy and I are pretty vigilant with what we bring into the house because we know that when we go out or over to someone's house, I'm not going to get the same organic treatment. Even if it's "vegetarian" it still can contain refined sugar and milk products which is why I look for a lot of "vegan" stuff myself (not because PETA and I are close friends - quite the contrary) because it's just better for my personal body.
There's a phrase I use all the time. When ever someone asks me why I don't eat meat or most milk product they usually inquire:
"Oh, are you one of those people who doesn't eat meat because you think it's cruel and unusual punishment to animals?"
I always reply with:
"Well, it CAN be - depending on how the animal is treated but the reason *I* don't eat that stuff is because it's cruel and unusual punishment to my *own* body."
So, as you can see, we don't eat healthy to make some sort of stupid "political statement".
Posted by: mrs. muddy at March 22, 2006 08:42 AMWell im glad that your conscious about your health. The more I eat meat, the more it makes me want to be vegetarian. Maybe if the bird flu comes here, it may just force me to become vegetarian.
I want to know what type of vegan you are. Do you wear leather? Do you eat honey? Do you not drink wines or beers with insinglass in it? Is muddy a renet-free cheese vegetarian? Quinoa spaghetti with tofu, eh-- rice cheese?
It must be hard being vegan in ohio. Do they have Whole Foods markets there? What type of organic/"natural" places do you purchase your vegan food from, or is it online? There is this company that creates something called, "No Cookies" which are very good vegan/gluten free cookies. http://www.nocookie.com/ There are also great resources for vegan children lunches, http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/
You better be careful. I hear that children growing up in conservative vegetarian households, become socialist that eat meat when they get older. I started drinking soy milk and wheat grass at a very young age...
Posted by: mooseboy84 at March 22, 2006 05:57 PM"I want to know what type of vegan you are."
I only follow enough of a "vegan" diet to stay away from refined sugars and dairy....simply because my body doesn't accept them well. That's all. Really, other people have called me vegan but I don't refer to myself as one. I just look for "vegan" ingrediants (or close to it) when I especially buy desserts. The vegan community, however, would NEVER accept me (not that I care). Technically, I'm not one. I just follow a very *few* of the food guide lines they just happen to follow themselves. It's just a fluke that it ended up that way. Quite frankly, I'm probably not even considered vegetarian in some circles either because I do eat fish. I've never *truely* labeled myself those titles anyway. It's others that have done it but in order to avoid confussion, I do end up saying I'm vegetarian/vegan just so people get a bit of an understanding of my diet - that is, if they ask.
I do eat honey, I do drink wine - pretty rarely, though. I'm not really all that sure what insinglass is. It's a pretty safe bet that I don't care either....I'm guessing it has something to do with glass? I normally don't care for leather simply because it's just not my style.
"Is muddy a renet-free cheese vegetarian? Quinoa spaghetti with tofu, eh-- rice cheese?"
He just uses dairy cheese from cows that have not been given any hormones or steroids. That's all. I have used tofu quite a few time before myself. In the place of eggs when baking - most of the time it works great....sometimes - not so great. My favorite part is letting the kids lick the bowl because you know without the raw eggs in the batter, they won't be risking their health.
"It must be hard being vegan in ohio."
I think it's becoming easier accross the board. Back in the 70's and 80's when muddy and I grew up, I think it would have been MUCH harder in this state to practice this diet. People are starting to wake up more and more and demanding better quality from their food and their markets. That's good. The more you have a demand for this stuff the more grocers will comply.
"I hear that children growing up in conservative vegetarian households, become socialist that eat meat when they get older."
Well, I wouldn't have any experience with that one so I guess you need to ask someone who's raising children in a conservative vegetarian household.
