Several experts are casting doubt on reports that Iran had passed a law requiring the country’s Jews and other religious minorities to wear coloured badges identifying them as non-Muslims.
The Iranian embassy in Otttawa also denied the Iranian government had passed such a law.
A news story and column by Iranian-born analyst Amir Taheri in yesterday’s National Post reported that the Iranian parliament had passed a sweeping new law this week outlining proper dress for Iran’s majority Muslims, including an order for Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians to wear special strips of cloth.
According to the reports, Jews were to wear yellow cloth strips, called zonnar, while Christians were to wear red and Zoroastrians blue.

Lets nuke them anyway.
Its the patritotic thing to do.

Cool! Moose approves so let's go for it!
Posted by: mrs. muddy at June 7, 2006 09:24 PMNuking them would solve a lot of longterm political problems. It would create a lot of short term problems though.
Posted by: skywalker at June 7, 2006 10:21 PMLets nuke them. Youll be paying $8 a gallon for gas before you can say fallout.
Posted by: mooseboy84 at June 8, 2006 10:10 AMI'd be okay with that if it would drive us towards alternative forms of energy. Unfortunately the very nature of our economy is that at $8 a gallon, people would STILL pay it for the simple fact that we have to do so. We've made it/are making it far to difficult and expensive to live comfortably and safely in major cities, so the price we pay is urban sprawl and heinous traffic.
My family would gladly pay for a reasonably sized condo in Atlanta instead of living in the 'burbs. But at $500k we can't afford to do so, especially not with the taxes! And a house the size of ours (not that big, worth about $130k here) would sell for $600-750k in Atlanta - not to mention that the city of Atlanta is trying to make houses this size illegal to build!
You want to fix a lot of the US energy expenses? Get people to move into the city. The people that would still have to drive would drive a LOT shorter trips, and many people would no longer need to drive - it will never happen en masse.
The very fact of the higher gas prices has gotten me to buy a motorcycle for the simple fact that even after insurance, if i only drive it on my commute 3 days a week, I will still save money, it will still be better for the enviroment and I will take up less space in traffic. To bad the idiots we have here won't let us lane split.
"Eww Eww you might get hurt." Yeah, well I might get hurt just sitting in traffic too, so?
At any rate, the short term problems I was referring to were the absolute vitriol that would be poured upon the US. (Though many people/nations would secretly be saying thank God while publicly kissing the middle east's ass.)
The real answer? Remove our military from the rest of the world. Use them to guard our borders, and secure our borders. Be more strict about who is allowed into this country. Tell everyone else to leave the the hell alone all we want is to trade with you, other than that, leave us in peace and we'll leave you in peace.
But, if we did that, there would be just as much ourage as there is when we do interfere, so it is a moot point.
Posted by: skywalker at June 10, 2006 02:04 PM"not to mention that the city of Atlanta is trying to make houses this size illegal to build!"
What?! What do you mean they're trying to make it illegal? Because they think house sizes like yours is too small? People should be allowed to build whatever size house they want. What do you have anyway - 3br house?
"The people that would still have to drive would drive a LOT shorter trips, and many people would no longer need to drive"
Yeah - that's never going to happen with Muddy and me. We don't care for the city (I HATE it myself. I can spend the day down town but then - GET ME OUT!). Our goal is to move AWAY from the city.:-)
"The very fact of the higher gas prices has gotten me to buy a motorcycle"
Wait ONE minute! Stop the presses! YOU bought a motorcycle?! Now I KNOW muddy and I have to come for a visit. I have GOT to have a ride on that thing!
"Yeah, well I might get hurt just sitting in traffic too"
People get hurt taking showers. One false slip and....

something that had to be done. That's good.
Now you can rightly point the finger at those who don't, now you can
take care of the straw in the eye of your fellow humans.
That's good too.
Thanks for the correction.
I assure you that personnaly, if I say something blatantly wrong, I'd
be glad to correct it.
