Mr. Muddy Goes To Washington Part 3
The World War II Memorial was stunning, a ring with one open end surrounded by small walls one for each state and territory.
While there I happened to look up and see a WWII vet standing up on the balcony on the Pacific side, little did I know at the time how fitting that would be.
I gave him a wave thanking him for his service and sapped off a shot on his return wave. That image has been in my mind since that day. I did a quick google search and found his ship was the U.S.S. Hector, a combat repair ship was commissioned 7 February 1944, it served with the Pacific Fleet though WWII and into the next few decades.
