New Poll, Does the two party system help or hurt?

After finding myself outside the two mainstream parties these days I believe it's time we seriously look at either allowing ALL parties to be involved in all political races or ban political parties altogether.
Imagine if we had NO political parties, *gasp!* you'd have to actually know what those running stood for and they would in turn have to say "something" of value.
Imagine if Bush and Kerry had no parties and they were on even ground with Michael Peroutka, Michael Badnarik, Ralph Nader and the others. Holy Crap!, those two would have to stand up and say something of value besides "my opponent is a dumb ass" speeches we hear everyday, or Kerry's famous "I have a plan to fix that" yet no plan has ever surfaced.
I thought this a perfect time to see what the people think. Since we'll never know what the two candidates honestly think.

Palestinian Leader Arafat's Health Worsens

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's health worsened on Wednesday and an ambulance rushed to his West Bank headquarters, medical sources and witnesses said.

Israel Radio said Arafat had lost consciousness, but a senior Palestinian official said that was untrue.

Palestinian officials have repeatedly said that Arafat is recovering from a bout of "stomach flu," but he has not appeared in public for days, fueling speculation over the seriousness of his condition.

An ambulance brought three medics late on Wednesday to the battered compound in Ramallah, where he has been effectively pinned by Israeli forces for more than 2-1/2 years.

"His health has deteriorated and there are plans to move him to the hospital in Ramallah," one medical source told Reuters.

Amnesty International: Deaf, Dumb and Blind

You know, it's bold stupidity like this that makes me loose all hope in this world.

By Kate Kelland

LONDON (Reuters) - The United States has failed to guard against torture and inhuman behavior since launching its "war on terror" after Sept. 11, 2001, Amnesty International said Wednesday in a report just days before the U.S. election.

The rights group called on President Bush and his Democratic challenger John Kerry to promise to take prompt action to address the issue head on if elected on Nov. 2.

It condemned Bush's response to the 2001 attacks on U.S. cities, saying it had resulted in an "iconography of torture, cruelty and degradation."

Soldier says Iraq is turning around

Like a lot of people who work in big cities, Lance Varney puts in long hours, goes to a lot of meetings and spends a lot of time stuck in traffic. Unlike most people, Varney does his work in a war zone.

A major in the 1st Cavalry Division, Varney spends his days navigating the streets of Baghdad as part of the U.S. military's efforts to rebuild the city. And while Varney, the son of Florence residents Ben and Linda Stovall, doesn't make light of the dangers, he says Iraq isn't the scene of unrelenting chaos and destruction people might think from news reports.

Red Hat warns of security patch hoax for Linux users

Linux vendor Red Hat Inc. is warning customers about an e-mail hoax that urges them to download security patches that actually contain malicious payloads.

In a note to customers on its Web site, Red Hat said it "has been made aware that e-mails are circulating that pretend to come from the Red Hat Security Team. These e-mails tell users to download and install malicious updates. These Trojan updates contain malicious code designed to compromise the systems they are run on."

Laura Bush Has Never Held A "Real Job"

Yes, Teresa can't keep her mouth shut.
First she wanted the children who lost their homes to the recent rash of hurricanes to run naked for a while. Now she, of ALL people accuses the first lady of never having a "real job". I suppose marrying one of the richest men in the world and getting all his cash was a job? I bet it was a snow job since I'm sure Kerry did the same thing to her.
Ah the hard knock life of being filthy rich... I'm sure it's lonely up there. :-P

The more I hear from her the more I get the impression that she thinks shes soooo much better than the rest of us.

Mrs. Muddy discovers old name on Voter Registry

A couple of weeks ago, I recieved a call from a family friend (thanks skywalker) who informed me of democrats in Ohio who were going around registering dead people to vote. Now, although this did take me aback for a moment, I thought later that, sadly, this is nothing new. However, I decided to check out a few dearly departed people I know...er...knew...whatever. Well, thank God, my list so far is short in that area so that part didn't take me too long. I'm happy to report that no one I know has come back from the beyond just to place their vote.

Site Found @ ElectionOhio

If they did....I wouldn't know whether to be more freaked out or completely impressed at the miracle....but, on with my story. You see, although, I didn't find any names from the "dead men voters society" registry list, I did find a name that was equally curious to me. My sister's. No, she's not dead but, I *did* find her registerd under her *maden* name. A name she hasn't had since 1995. A name she has changed *twice* already on her voters registration card (don't know why....I don't think she ever bothers using it but....), once when she got married in '95 to her first husband and then once again a year and a half ago when she married for the 2nd time. She never even bothered changing back to her maden name after her *first* marriage ended. That fact along with the others that a) She didn't even vote in the *last* presidential election and b) she now lives in England (and doesn't bother - though I could be wrong - with voting 'absentee' ) was more than enough to raise my red flag. Could this be a simple mistake like my sister suggested? Yes. However, with all the voters fraud going on these days (and with this presidential race being so tight), I decided not to take any chances so I got right on the phone to the Board of Elections.

Well, after listening to 10 minutes worth of "...all of our operators are busy, please stand by for the next avaliable volunteer..." and singing down to 44 bottles of "99 bottles of beer on the wall"....I *finally* spoke to a real live person! Whoo hooo! I could barely contain my excitement! I spoke to a dear, sweet older woman who was more than willing to help. She informed me that according to their (Board of Election) records that my sister hasn't voted since 1988 (I don't think that's acuarate, myself since the address that's listed under her name wasn't even in existence until after 1992...but that was beside the point). Well, after hearing that my dear sis hasn't voted for quite a long while, I pretty much assumed from there that it would be very difficult for someone to vote for her without *alot* of convincing identification. I decided to ask anyway just for confirmation. Just as I suspected, someone would have to (as this lovely woman put it) "know how to break into Fort Knox to get past the voting officials in order to vote.". She also told me that, yes, this indeed was a mistake and put my sister - along with her maiden name on "stand by" to be removed from the voters registry. After I thanked her and told her how relieved I was that my sister was not a victim of fraud, she told me to not feel silly for calling (I assured her I didn't) because that's what they're there for....that's their job. She added ".. with everything going on these days, it's much better to be safe than sorry.". She then informed me that she would put a "red flag" beside her name as well.....just in case.:-)

If anyone would like to check (at least here in Ohio) the registery list for any names go to:

...you can find your county from there.

Annan: Iraq War Hasn't Made World Safer

"I cannot say the world is safer when you consider the violence around us, when you look around you and see the terrorist attacks around the world and you see what is going on in Iraq," Annan told the ITV network.

"We have a lot of work to do as an international community to try and make the world safer," he said.

Men save signs for Bush in stakeout

According to two Mercer Island men, signs supporting President Bush are an endangered species. Within days of going up in the affluent neighborhood, the signs disappear.

So there the men were this week, camped in the dark woods with lawn chairs and a video camera, waiting for the thieves to strike.

It only took three hours. At about 10 p.m. Tuesday, a 25-year-old Mercer Island man walked to a grassy area along the 6700 block of Island Crest Way and began to pull up Bush signs installed by the two men, police said.

Yet another mass grave

"A mass grave containing hundreds of bodies, including many women and children, has been exhumed in northern Iraq. The discovery is said to confirm that large-scale executions took place during Saddam Hussein's 24-year rule. Iraqi human rights organisations believe the site is just one of some 40 mass graves countrywide. Up to 300,000 people are thought to have been killed under the regime of the Iraqi dictator who was deposed last year."

Some of the bodies were children still clutching their toys.

They Still Want It Both Ways

I realized today that Democrats are complaining about outsourcing. What is outsourcing? Companies realize that they can send certain jobs overseas to make more money. This is stupid if you're making a profit already, but if you're taking losses (like the Tech sector was not to long ago) it's a typical thing. The upside tothis is that once a company makes a profit it can create more jobs locally. Problem is that this takes time.

Basically it is the destroy to create principle.

But look who we have complaining about it: the Democrats, the modern free trade pioneers! This is the party who brought us NAFTA. Something I'm perfectly okay with by the way.

So now they're s aying "We're still for free trade, we're just against outsourcing!" What a crock.

SPAM

I'd just like to whine for a moment about the 300+ e-mails I get a day. I get about 2 or 3 legitimate e-mails per months, yet I recieve about 9000 a month total. this is way out of hand. I will sometimes get 50 from the same spammer a day!

But here is the really funny part: the majority of my e-mails are no longer spam. They are 419 scams!

That's right folks, I get more e-mails from tu-muhmekah in Nigeria wanting to get me 10 million dollars simply in exchange for my bank account number, than I do from someone offering me free pornography or, shall we say, an enlargement pill that I assure you all I have no need for.

This is out of hand.many of them I've been able to use the "Please click here to unsubscribe" thing to great success. Allegedly that's something they use to confirm your e-mail address, but frankly, all they have to do it not get a bounced e-mail to do that, not to mention that US law requires them to put that there. But I'm noticing more and more of them don't even have that anymore.

I'm getting sick of it frankly, because I'm spending 10 minutes a day deleting emails!

Kerry Shows Tender Side

kerry_handstand.png
Akron, OH - John Kerry made a stop today in Akron during his pre-debate whirlwind tour of Ohio. Speaking to the Akron Cartwheel Kids a group of children and young adults with Kozlouski Disease. A little know disease that inflicts the Pituitary Gland causing those inflicted to spontaneously do cartwheels. Kerry railed against the President for not funding research for this odd and crippling disease. During his speech Kerry thought he would show his human side and do a cartwheel with this group, (see picture) however it seems he did not realize that would cause a mass of cartwheels from the group. The ensuing frenzy of cartwheels caused multiple injuries from simple cuts and bruises to lacerations and broken bones.

John Kerry apologized to the group upon realizing his egregious mistake.

However the damage was done. President Bush took a 3 point lead in the most recent Akron polls as a result. A Kerry spokeswoman later gave a statement in which the Presidential hopeful again apologized and promised if elected that the dreaded Cartwheel Disease would be cured.

Foreign monitors to observe U.S. elections

NEW YORK — A 55-nation body charged with overseeing fair elections and human rights in its member states expects to send as many as 100 monitors to observe the U.S. elections on Nov. 2, saying numerous "weaknesses and vulnerabilities" might delay the outcome or even compromise the results.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) explained its decision to send teams of professional foreign observers to the United States to watch the voting, saying irregularities with voting machines and procedures could jeopardize public confidence.

Saddam paid off French leaders

By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Saddam Hussein used a U.N. humanitarian program to pay $1.78 billion to French government officials, businessmen and journalists in a bid to have sanctions removed and U.S. policies opposed, according to a CIA report made public yesterday.
The cash was part of $10.9 billion secretly skimmed from the U.N. oil-for-food program, which was used by Iraq to buy military goods, according to a 1,000-page report by the CIA-led Iraqi Survey Group.
According to a section of the report on Iraqi weapons procurement, the survey group identified long-standing ties between Saddam and the French government. One 1992 Iraqi intelligence service report revealed that Iraq's ambassador to France paid $1 million to the French Socialist Party in 1988.

Nation's Liberals Suffering From Outrage Fatigue

article2861.jpg
WASHINGTON, DC—According to a study released Monday by the Hammond Political Research Group, many of the nation's liberals are suffering from a vastly diminished sense of outrage. "With so many right-wing shams to choose from, it's simply too daunting for the average, left-leaning citizen to maintain a sense of anger," said Rachel Neas, the study's director. "By our estimation, roughly 70 percent of liberals are experiencing some degree of lethargy resulting from a glut of civil-liberties abuses, education funding cuts, and exorbitant military expenditures."

San Francisco's Arthur Flauman is one liberal who has chosen to take a hiatus from his seething rage over Bush Administration policies.

"Every day, my friends send me e-mails exposing Bush's corrupt environmental policies," said Flauman, a member of both the Green Party and the Sierra Club. "I used to spend close to an hour following all the links, and I'd be shocked and outraged by the irreversible damage being done to our land. At some point, though, I got annoyed with the demanding tone of the e-mails. The Clear Skies Initiative is bogus, but I'm not going to forward a six-page e-mail to all my friends—especially one written by a man who signs his name 'Leaf.' Now, if a message's subject line contains the word 'Bush,' it goes straight into the trash."

Neas found that many survey participants who attended protests against the war in Iraq in 2003 could barely summon the energy to read newspaper articles about the subject in 2004.

Portland, OR resident Suzanne Marshal compared herself to an addict, needing increasingly large doses of perceived injustices to achieve a state of anger.

Stupid Muslims Ruining Good Name of Honest Hard Working Muslims

So the Muslim community is going out and registering voters after the deadline has passed to register voters... ???

According to rockthevote.com the deadline passed last week.

In addition the following line is just the most uninformed, prejudiced and backwards thing I've heard in a while. (from someone not from the kerry or bush campaign)

< --- begin clip ---- >
"The community is scared and depressed," said Joy Shaffea, as she emerged from a prayer service at the Bridgeview Mosque Foundation here.

"We want to feel like we used to. We want to live in comfort, not fear."

More than anything else, Shaffea hopes that a new administration would change the tone in the national debate about the war on terror and Islam.

"I hope Kerry gets in there and appoints people who start talking intelligently," she said. "They need to quit generalising, calling all Arabs evil-doers and all those other stupid names Bush uses."

< ---- end clip ---- >

Joy for your information ALL Americans live in some Fear where have you been since 9/11 ?
Who is generalizing? When did Bush say all Muslims are evil or whatever fantasy you dreamed up?
The truth is Arab born Extremists who use terror as their tactic dreamed up, planned and carried out the 9/11 attacks. Would it not make sense then that someone of Middle Eastern decent would carry out the next attack?
Heck maybe it'll be midgets next time, Yea.. I can it now.. they will sneak on in carry on luggage and pop out with guns blazing.

Get real.

Pissin' Match

I'm watching this so called "debate" tonight and it's a total pissing match. All I hear from these two is "you suck we don't", "you lied we're demi-god's" and "You have no plan and we're plans-r-us".

The funny part is they seemed to know more about each other than themselves.

Someone wake me when this is over.

*update* found a good article over at SignOnSanDiego.com

< ---- begin clip ---- >
Democrat John Edwards and Vice President Dick Cheney stretched the findings of U.S. intelligence to their own ends Tuesday night in tangling over Saddam Hussein's alleged ties to al-Qaeda.

Edwards said the connection between Saddam and the terrorist network was minimal or nonexistent; Cheney asserted Saddam's Iraq "had an established relationship with al-Qaeda."

Both statements mask what intelligence sources have said. The contacts were limited and sketchy, mostly Iraqi intelligence agents and al-Qaeda operatives, and did not amount to state sponsorship of al-Qaeda or any link to the Sept. 11 attacks, U.S. intelligence officials have said.
< ---- end clip ---- >

Just goes to prove my point that both parties are full of crap and we need ALL candidates involved.

FOUR VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES TO DEBATE IN OHIO

Unscripted Debate Offers Voters a Rare Opportunity to Hear Issues Not Discussed in the Exclusive, Two-Party Controlled Debates

A rare debate among four vice presidential candidates - from the Libertarian, Constitution and Green parties, as well as Ralph Nader’s independent ticket - will take place on Tuesday, October 5, at the John Patrick Theatre at Baldwin Wallace College in Cleveland, Ohio, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Debate organizers say the debate between Richard Campagna, Chuck Baldwin, Patricia LaMarche and Peter Camejo will offer voters a stark contrast to the watered-down and scripted banter expected from the Edwards-Cheney debate taking place the same day in the same city.

The debate is unusual not only because so many diverse viewpoints will be represented, but also because of its format. All questions for the candidates will come from Baldwin College students. Following the hour and a half long debate, there will be an intermission and then the debate participants and audience will watch a live broadcast of the staged, exclusive “debate” between Edwards and Cheney. At approximately 10:30 p.m., following the conclusion of the Edwards-Cheney exchange, the four vice presidential candidates gathered at Baldwin Wallace College will offer their rebuttals.

The four vice presidential candidates have joined together in unprecedented solidarity to advance a common interest of democratizing the American political system and giving voters the choices that they demand and deserve. A recent Zogby poll found that over 40% of all Americans would like to see David Cobb, Michael Badnarik, Michael Peroutka and Ralph Nader participate in the televised presidential debates.

The Baldwin-Wallace Student Government is the sponsor of the vice presidential debate. “Baldwin Wallace students are proud to sponsor an event of this caliber which gives voters an opportunity to hear all voices - the essence of a true democracy. We’re excited to share this experience with our students, local community and with the entire nation as well.” said Chris Glassburn, Senator at Baldwin-Wallace.

Most songs on iPods 'stolen' - Microsoft CEO

It's official. All iPod users are music thieves - according to Microsoft CEO Steve 'Monkey Boy' Ballmer.

"The most common format of music on an iPod is 'stolen'," he told reporters in London today, according to a Silicon.com report.

Ballmer conveniently ignores not only that there are many non-Apple music players out there, on which there are probably as many, if not more "stolen" songs.

He singles out the Mac maker for attention because - wait for it - "we've had DRM in Windows for years". The implication is that DRM hasn't been in the Mac OS for a similar duration, and that's what's allowed all those stolen tracks to seep through onto the web.

Windows has, of course, also had Napster, Grokster, Streamcast, Aimster, Kazaa full and lite, et al for years, but - again - none of that Windows-only music theft apparatus has registered on Mr Ballmer's radar screen, it seems.

Debate or Soapbox?

blahdebate.png
The "debate" was last night. I tried to watch it even though my candidate was not allowed to be there. Heck, he was not allowed to even be in the audience. They call this a democracy? Seems to me it's more like a dictatorship with the elephants and donkeys ruling as one. I could swear that debates were about people getting their lyrical groove on and making their points about a subject while disproving their opponents points.

Last night was two fools standing on their perspective soapboxes saying the same crap that has been said since day one. Heck, there was not even an entertainment value to it. *yawn*

The only note worthy thing of the whole debate was before it.
The manicure heard round the world. hehe..

Yup, you heard right. John "prissy" Kerry went and had his grrly side pampered.
uh.. yea... right before coming out and being a "big strong man".. I think he was under the impression he was going to be on "America's Top Model" not the debate.

It naturally went with his spray on tan, his botox injections and whatever else he has done to himself to look more Hollywood.

I thought having a member of the liberal media moderate helped Kerry. I'm not sure if those watching noticed but I think Kerry's voice dropped an octave and he was leaning forward a slight bit. Very clever if you ask me, he clearly did not think up this by himself. Bush on the other hand look irritated, at times I could see in his eyes he wanted to jump over the podium and choke the poo out of Kerry.

I will be ripping it and making it available to those who request it. Audio or Video.
