Swiss Pioneer flys like a bird

Man has dreamt of flight ever since our ancestors first saw birds soaring into the sky.

And even after the dream was realised, first with hot-air balloons and later with heavier-than-air aeroplanes, the dream remained unfulfilled.

Because being truly at one with the air, able to swoop and soar like a falcon or an albatross, remained an impossibility. And in legends where the dream became real, as in the myth of the Ancient Greek birdman Icarus, the price was a heavy one; an ignominious crashing to Earth.

But for one brave Swiss pioneer, a former military pilot called Yves Rossy, the dream has become reality.

Merry Christmas To All And To All....

....well, you know the rest. Even though Christmas isn't even close to being my favorite holiday (mine being Easter, The fourth of July and Thanksgiving - in that order. Christmas I can pretty much take or leave), I thought I would take a quick second (because that's about all I have right now) and wish you all a very SAFE and happy holidays. May you recieve that which you ask and may God bless you - and others - as you give.

God Bless....

'Truthiness' is the word of the year

After 12 months of naked partisanship on Capitol Hill, on cable TV and in the blogosphere, the word of the year for 2006 is ... "truthiness."

The word -- if one can call it that -- best summed up 2006, according to an online survey by dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster.

"Truthiness" was credited to Comedy Central satirist Stephen Colbert, who defined it as "truth that comes from the gut, not books."

Stephen is so proud, one man can make a difference. :-)

Mexican Soldiers Freelancing for Drug Cartels on US Soil

Gun-toting members of the Mexican military are crossing regularly into U.S. territory, where they are partnering with drug cartels and criminal gangs to protect sophisticated smuggling operations, according to Texas sheriffs and lawmakers.

Some of the Mexican infiltrators are suspected to have been trained by the U.S. military.

U.S. Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement officials operating along the southwestern border have come under attack from the Mexican side in recent months, with automatic gunfire frequently erupting, Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) told Cybercast News Service.

Mexican military units and drug cartels have access to weaponry and communications equipment far more advanced than resources made available to U.S. officials on the state and federal level, Culberson said.

Senator Johnson

So the airwaves are now filled with the talking heads falling over themselves to drone on about Senator Johnson and the possible shift of power. I hate to sound cold but who the hell cares. Any American with an once of gray matter can determine from one day of news that neither side gives a rats ass about the common man. (unless it's for a photo op, campaign op or something to benefit themselves personally)

Don't get me wrong, I wish Senator Johnson a speedy and full recovery.
Aside from that there will be no real shift of power while the donkeys and elephants are in power.

I can only see real positive change happening if those who 'get it' like outgoing Senator Rick Santorum were to be put into power. (en mass) Then will there ever be a change for the positive. Not that politics (or politicians alone) are going to help us, however it will require those who understand the current threat we face along with the knowledge of how to work the system.

Israel Will `Vanish' Just Like Soviet Union, Ahmadinejad Says

Dec. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Israel will `vanish' just like the Soviet Union collapsed, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a conference in Tehran that questions the Holocaust.

``As the Soviet Union disappeared, the Zionist regime will also vanish and humanity will be liberated,'' the official Islamic Republic News Agency cited Ahmadinejad as telling the conference yesterday.

The president's remarks are ``outrageous,'' U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said in Washington, according to a transcript. It is hard to find words for his ``despicable behavior,'' he added.

Ahmadinejad, pronounced ah-ma-deen-ah-ZHAD, a year ago said that the Holocaust was a myth created by the West. He also said Israel should be ``wiped off the map.'' Iran hosted the two-day conference that ended yesterday in Tehran, giving a forum to Holocaust deniers who dismiss as fiction or exaggeration the killing of 6 million Jews by the Nazis during World War II.

I'll say it again, sneak a sniper into the country and take this nut out, he's going to start another world war before he's done.

The Arrogance of Man

Scientists apparently can't figure out why the "Bird Flu" virus which had most of the world bracing for a pandemic a few months ago, has mostly disappeared. It may come back of course, disease typically does. For instance, malaria, once on the verge of being irradicated, made a comeback. Smallpox has begun to appear in some third world countries. But for the time being, it is gone.

This is more evidence of the arrogance we display when we attempt to predict the course of nature. Whether it be the hunting patterns of wolves in yellow stone, temperature or disease, we simply are not omniscient. We can, at best, make reasonable assumptions or guesses. But in the end, we only know the present. History isn't even a certainty in this day and age of revisionist historians and scientists using "evidence" to support a predetermined conclusions.

4 -year-old Accused of Improperly Touching Teacher

BELLMEAD- A four-year-old hugged his teachers aide and was put into in-school suspension, according to the father. But La Vega school administrators have a different story.

Damarcus Blackwell's four-year-old son was lining-up to get on the bus after school last month, when he was accused of rubbing his face in the chest of a female employee.

The prinicipal of La Vega Primary School sent a letter to the Blackwells that said the pre-kindergartener demonstrated "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment."
Blackwell says it's ridiculous that the aide would misread a hug from a four-year-old. Blackwell wrote to administrators demanding that the whole incident be expunged from his son's academic file because his son is too young to know what it means to act sexually.

Pearl Harbor survivors meet for last time

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - With their number quickly dwindling, survivors of Pearl Harbor will gather Thursday one last time to honor those killed by the Japanese 65 years ago, and to mark a day that lives in infamy.

This will be their last visit to this watery grave to share stories, exchange smiles, find peace and salute their fallen friends. This, they say, will be their final farewell.

"This will be one to remember," said Mal Middlesworth, president of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. "It's going to be something that we'll cherish forever."

Hero Mother of the day

A 12-year-old boy in Rock Hill, South Carolina, just couldn't wait for Santa to deliver presents this year. According to the local paper, the child unwrapped and opened a present containing a new Game Boy Advance this past weekend--fully three weeks before Christmas. When the young boy's mother found out, she called the police and told them to arrest her son. The boy at first denied all knowledge of the missing portable but later returned it to his mother after she threatened to call authorities. The mother then called the police anyway, and when they arrived at her home, the boy was arrested and taken to the local police station.

The boy was charged with petty larceny, but because he is a juvenile, he did not have to spend time in jail.

News at GameSpot

Good news today, there are still good parents in America. When your kid is on the brink of becoming a life long resident of the pen you do what you must to save them. I applaud this mother for loving her son enough to do what it takes to set him on the right path.

Iran threatens Europe

TEHRAN - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday issued a stern warning to Europe amid new moves to agree sanctions over Iran's nuclear programme, saying such "hostility" could endanger relations with the continent.

Ahmadinejad accused Europe of not just wanting to ensure that Iran's nuclear drive was peaceful but of seeking to thwart the entire programme, in a speech to cheering supporters as he kicked off a tour of Mazandaran province.

"If you (Europeans) continue making efforts to halt the progress of the Iranian nuclear programme and if you take any step against the Iranian nation's rights, either in propaganda or international bodies, the Islamic republic will consider this an act of hostility.

"And if you continue with this, the Iranian nation will revise the direction of its path and its plans related to you," he added in the speech broadcast on state television.

President Tom is not just nuts, he's also making nukes. Now if that don't scream preemptive strike I don't know what does.
